Celebrity bodyguard dies after tasering

Police: Norman Oosterbroek found naked, confrontational in home

PINECREST, Fla. – A Labor Day home invasion in Gables by the Sea is making international headlines, identifying the suspect as one of the most recognizable celebrity bodyguards in the world.

Norman Oosterbroek was found naked and confrontational by police who were called to the home of Markus and Christiane Jung just before 11 p.m. Monday. Officers used a taser to subdue Oosterbroek, according to a police report. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Dutch headlines and international celebrity culture websites show videos and photographs of the large, bald Oosterbroek apparently on the job protecting Lady Gaga in Paris, the United Kingdom and in Amsterdam last summer.

He has worked with many celebrities, including Rihanna, Beyonce and Jay Z, but got his start as Nelson Mandela's bodyguard.

The security company Oosterbroek started, RAD, now lists him as running the firm's activities in Europe.

Oosterbroek and his wife April have been renting a home in Gables by the Sea right down the block from the Jungs, according to the couple who own the property.

Marcus Jung, who fought with Oosterbroek before police arrived, said he didn't know him. On Wednesday afternoon, his wife asked for privacy.

"We are working through this and we need to have no media attention. I truly appreciate it if you respect that," Christiane Jung said through the closed, front door.
