According to police, the incident began as a dispute between the child's parents on the 900 block of NW 10th Street.

The two reportedly argued over who would take care of the child, a 4-year-old girl.

The woman then took the girl and drove off in a silver Nissan. The man, who was allegedly carrying a gun, gave chase and crashed his car into the woman's vehicle at I-95 and Pembroke Road, according to police.

Police now say they don't think father was the one who removed the girl from the car. They say it was another family member who also followed them, who may have wanted to get the girl away from the situation.

That family member returned the girl to child's mother at the hospital where she was treated for minor injuries

The child's father will likely face charges of aggravated assault and child endangerment, according to police.
