Coast Guard calls off search for man who jumped from cruise ship

MIAMI – The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for a South Carolina man who jumped over the railing of a cruise ship off the coast of South Florida.

Coast Guard crews have been searching for James Miller, 30, of Charleston, S.C., since Sunday.

Miller reportedly jumped from the Bahamas Celebration cruise ship early Sunday morning, about 27 miles east of Delray Beach.

Coast Guard crews searched more than 2,813 square nautical miles before calling off the search Tuesday afternoon.

The FBI is also investigating.
