The Coast Guard began searching for a diver 3 nautical miles southeast of New Providence, Bahamas, Sunday morning.
Watchstanders received a report of two divers who were reported missing from their 21-foot boot after it became adrift and was towed back to port.
One of those divers was able to swim to shore while the Coast Guard began to search for the other.
A helicopter crew launched to conduct a search for the remaining diver.
