FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – U.S. Coast Guard crew members are expected to offload $40 million estimated wholesale value of cocaine on Friday.
Authorities said the drugs are the results of two interdictions carried out as part of Operation Martillo.

During a patrol on Nov. 2, after a Coast Guard law enforcement detachment team observed suspected smugglers jettison suspicious packages, the team deployed a crew to investigate.
At the scene, the crew recovered 19 packages, which the U.S. Coast Guard said later tested positive for cocaine.
During the same patrol, the team conducted a boarding on another suspect vessel and recovered 22 packages that later tested positive for cocaine, officials said.
The crew members are expected to offload 1,212 kilograms of cocaine at 7 a.m. Friday at Port Everglades.
