Commissioners vote to kill current Miami Beach Convention Center project

City to issue new bid for only renovation of city-owned convention center

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Miami Beach commissioners voted unanimously Wednesday to end negotiations with South Beach ACE, the company that was pegged to redevelop the Miami Beach Convention Center.

In July, Miami Beach city commissioners had selected South Beach ACE to overhaul its aging convention center.

A new mandate by a new mayor, however, caused the city to call off the proposed $1 billion redevelopment of the convention center district.

Miami Beach will now issue a new bid for only the renovation of the city-owned convention center.
