Company run by Dania Beach commissioner pays taxes on 2 properties

Move comes after Local 10 News investigation into Dania Economic Development Corporation

DANIA BEACH, Fla. – Records show the Dania Economic Development Corporation has paid taxes on two properties it owns following a Local 10 News investigation last month.

Records indicate $3,699.07 has been paid to Broward County, but taxes on five other properties that are in the corporation's name are still owed.

Records indicate $4,503.28 dollars in back taxes are still owed.

The organization's president is Dania Beach Vice Mayor Bobbie Grace.

Outside her Dania Beach home, Grace told Weinsier last month that she had no idea the money was owed and referred Weinsier to her executive director, Jerry Carter.

"That is so incorrect and for the media to report that is wrong," said Carter. "You're attempting to paint a picture that is incorrect."

Local  10 News confirmed the debt with the Broward Property Appraiser's Office and the Broward County Records, Taxes and Treasury Division.

The payment on two properties was posted June 23.

This is not the first time the vice mayor's corporation has owed back taxes.

The Dania Economic Development Corporation provides low income housing to seniors and families.
