Cooper City kids attempt to beat Guinness World Record in sport stacking

Students at Cooper City Elementary School try to stack, unstack 600,000 plastic cups

COOPER CITY, Fla. – Students at Cooper City Elementary School are attempting to beat the Guinness World Record in sport stacking by stacking and unstacking 600,000 plastic cups into various pyramids and patterns.

The current record is about 500,000.

The students stacked the cups Thursday morning during their physical education class with the help of current 9-year-old world championship stacker PJ Ball, who is also a native of Cooper City.

Ball taught himself the sport of cup stacking two years ago after he saw someone do it on YouTube.

"You stack the cups and then you tear them down, and you try to do it as quick as you can," said Ball.

Schools in 32 other countries are also attempting to beat the world record for sport stacking.
