Cops: Man arrested, stole from Boynton Beach Cub Scouts

Roderick Kendricks allegedly stole money collected in Scouts fundraiser

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – Roderick Kendricks must have never been a Cub Scout because he apparently didn't live up to the organization's promise to "obey the law."

Kendricks, 39, was arrested on Thursday in connection with a robbery at a Boynton Beach home in which he allegedly stole $550 raised by a local Cub Scouts pack.

The early morning break-in occurred at 513 SE 20th Ct. on Sept. 2.

Kendricks and another unidentified suspect searched through bedroom drawers before finally locating a box of money containing the cash raised by Cub Scouts during a fundraising event in which they sold hot dogs and BBQ pork sandwiches.

On Thursday, the homeowner was able to identify Kendricks who was then brought in for questioning. After originally denying his involvement in the crime, Kendricks changed his story upon seeing surveillance video from the home.

Kendricks was booked on one count of Burglary to a Residence and one count of Grand Theft.

Police are still searching for the second suspect.
