Cops search for rape suspect

Miami police: Man kidnapped, raped, robbed woman Sunday

MIAMI – Miami police officers passed out flyers as they search for a rapist who kidnapped and robbed a woman Sunday.

The incident happened at 510 NW 46th Street.

"We're out in full force to make sure that we put this criminal away," said Miami police spokesman Rene Pimentel. "We're already getting tips in saying that they've seen him. Now, we just wanna confirm to help investigators close."

About 8 a.m. Sunday, the rapist approached the woman and pointed a gun at her, police said. He then brought her to an abandoned house, where he raped her.

"It's so sad," said Juan Valez. "[It] happened in broad daylight and nobody saw nothing."

Valez added that he worries about other women who live in the neighborhood.

"There's a lot of little girls and single women around here," he said. "That's real low -- scum of the earth."

Police described the rapist as 20 to 25 years old and about 6 feet 1 inch tall. He spoke Creole and was last seen wearing a maroon shirt and brown pants.

"We cannot do this alone and we cannot let this individual strike again," added Pimentel.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
