Man concealed his identity with ski mask in sexual assault, police say

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Coral Gables Police Department said it is investigating multiple home burglaries where female victims have been home alone and awakened to a person inside their home.

Although there has not been any new occurrences in the last few months, in June 2014, an armed sexual battery happened in the 200 block of Menores Avenue, where a man entered a female victim's home through an unlocked door, concealed his identity with a ski mask and sexually assaulted her, police said.

Prior to the incidents, there were five cases of lewd and lascivious behavior in the north area of the city. The Coral Gables Police Department said it believes that the same man may have committed these crimes and similar crimes in surrounding communities.

Police described the man as white and between the ages of 20 to early 30s. He was possibly wearing a hoodie sweatshirt or other material to conceal his identity.

Coral Gables police will be distributing a new flyer in the affected area, the department said.

Police advising residents to be aware of their surroundings and continue to immediately report any suspicious persons or vehicles to the Coral Gables Police Department.
