Couple shopping with 2 boys steals lawn mower, pays for rake with stolen credit card

Incident captured June 26 on surveillance video at Home Depot in Oakland Park

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are trying to identify a couple who they said went shopping with two boys at a Home Depot in Oakland Park and used a stolen credit card to pay for a rake.

The incident was captured June 26 on surveillance video.

BSO spokeswoman Gina Carter said the man and woman entered the Home Depot store on West Oakland Park Boulevard with the two boys and selected a rake and a lawn mower from the store.

Surveillance video released Wednesday shows the woman paying for the rake at the checkout counter. However, Carter said the credit card she used was stolen from a Palm Beach resident a day earlier.

Another camera angle from the surveillance video shows the man, woman and children huddled together with the lawn mower and rake near the exit. The man walks out of the store first, and one of the boys runs out after him. The other boy then walks out with the rake, while the woman pushes the lawn mower out of the store.

Anyone who recognizes the couple is asked to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
