14-year-old boy injured in Miami shooting, authorities say

Victim taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital

MIAMI – A 14-year-old boy was injured Thursday afternoon in a shooting in Miami, authorities said.

The shooting was reported in the area of Northwest 15th Avenue and 58th Street.

Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll said the victim was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Video shows him holding his face as he is taken inside.

Neighbors told Local 10 News reporter Derek Shore that he was shot in the face.

"I seen a whole bunch of police cars and an ambulance, that's all. I didn't even hear a gunshot. Now I hear one of the kids got shot," one woman said.

The woman told Shore that violence is getting worse in the area.

"Too many kids owning guns," the woman said. "I don't know how they got them, but they got guns. Because kids killing kids nowadays."

Police have not said whether anyone is in custody or what led up to the shooting.
