Person threatens to 'shoot up school,' authorities say

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – One person was taken into custody Friday morning after threats were made against Lauderdale Lakes Middle School, authorities said.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Joy Oglesby said deputies responded to the school at 3911 NW 30th Ave. about 9:45 a.m. in reference to threats to "shoot up the school."

Students in summer school were evacuated to nearby Oriole Elementary School as a precaution.

Oglesby said one person was taken into custody and no explosives were found at the school.

The school was determined safe for students to return to just after 10:30 a.m.
