Coconut Creek police said a 15-year-old girl was walking home from school when she was approached by Robert Clark Jr., 18, and a 16-year-old boy.

The girl told police that Clark asked her if he could borrow her iPhone 6 to call his mother, then fled with the phone in a gold Honda Accord that was parked by the entrance to a residential complex.

Detectives spotted the car a short time later in the 1800 block of Lyons Road and arrested Clark and his 16-year-old passenger.

Both face grand theft charges. Clark was also cited for two traffic violations.

Detectives said the 16-year-old boy was identified in three similar incidents in the city of Coconut Creek and will also face charges of armed robbery with a firearm and simple battery.

Police said that in one case, the teen got into a physical altercation with a juvenile for his or her cellphone and threatened the victim with a gun so he or she would hand over the phone.

He has also been implicated in other cases that are still being investigated, authorities said.

Police said a third person accompanied the suspects in previous cases, but they do not have a description of the person.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call Detective Joseph Barreto at 954-973-6700 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
