2 arrested after Miami restaurant burglary leads to boat pursuit

Thieves make getaway while loading stolen items onto boat

MIAMI – Two people were taken into custody Wednesday after a boat pursuit in Biscayne Bay.

Sky 10 was flying above a Miami neighborhood as police handcuffed one man and put him in the back of a police car.

A large police presence could be seen in the neighborhood near the 79th Street Causeway.

Police could be seen moving a mini-refrigerator from the boat onto a police boat.

Police said the thieves were stealing from a restaurant that's closed for business at 620 NE 78th St.

They said the thieves were loading up the stolen items when someone called 911.

Authorities said the suspects panicked when police arrived and fled on the boat, dumping their loot into the water.

Police said the thieves ran into the Belle Meade neighborhood, but were quickly apprehended.

An officer at the scene told Local 10 News that the boat is believed to be a getaway boat.
