2 men steal thousands of lottery tickets from Pompano Beach store

Burglary captured on camera at Country Food Store

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Surveillance video released Thursday by the Broward Sheriff's Office shows two men burglarizing a store earlier this year in Pompano Beach.

The burglary was reported just before 4 a.m. Jan. 6 at the Country Food Store at 815 S. Dixie Highway.

Deputies said the thieves used a brick to smash the front window and glass door of the convenience store.

The men ripped three video cameras from the walls before heading for the cash register, BSO spokeswoman Gina Carter said.

Carter said the men initially struggled with the cash register, but were eventually able to yank it free.

She said they stole thousands of lottery tickets, several phone cards, cellphone accessories, cigarettes and cash.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call Detective Joel Rivero at 954-786-4210. Anonymous tips can be made to Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
