3 arrested after police chase in northwest Miami-Dade

Several guns confiscated from stolen Mercedes-Benz

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ Three men are in custody after a police chase in northwest Miami-Dade County, Miami-Dade police said.

The chase began when a narcotics detective noticed a stolen white 2016 Mercedes-BenzĀ C300 speeding in the area of Northwest 86th Street and Northwest 19th Avenue. The detective, who was in an unmarked vehicle, requested assistance from a marked police vehicle.

When Opa-Locka police attempted to stop the stolen vehicle, the driver, Armend V. Jefferson, 18, fled from officers, which launched the chase.

Officers followed the vehicle on the ground and by sky.

Jefferson, stopped in the area of Northwest 135 Street and Northwest 22 Avenue.Ā 

He was arrested on charges of grand theft and possession of a firearm. Passengers Kelly Jackson, 18, and Dequwon King, 16, were arrested on a possession of a firearm charge.Ā 

Local 10 News reporter Andrew Perez said Miami-Dade police removed several guns from the stolen Mercedes-Benz after the chase.
