3 robbers point gun at man's head in driveway of Hollywood home

Similar robbery was reported earlier in Pembroke Pines

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A South Florida man had a gun pointed to his head and his home was ransacked after he was ambushed in the driveway of his home in Hollywood.

Clausson Lexow, 77, told Local 10 News that he was followed home Tuesday night.

He said he thought the people in the car behind him needed directions, but he was wrong.

Lexow said three men, two of whom were armed, got out of the vehicle and surrounded him.

"(They said), 'Do what we say or we will shoot you,'" Lexow said.

Lexow said the men asked if anyone was in the house and then asked for his wallet and snatched his cellphone.

"They wanted bank account info. They wanted PIN numbers," Lexow said. "I was imagining being shot."

Lexow said two of men went into the house through the garage as another stood outside the car with a gun to his head.

Lexow was still in the driver's seat with his car running.

"Then they wanted me to move my car into the garage and close the garage door," he said. "What was going through my mind is that if I go in that garage and get in the house with them there is no telling what's going to happen to me."

Lexow said he tried to escape and put his car in reverse.

"As I'm drifting back, I'm thinking I got to make a move here," Lexow said. "I'm pretty sure I can do it, and he yelled at me, 'Hey, you are going backwards.' And at that point, I put it into drive and floored it -- took out a few plants."

Lexow raced to a nearby Publix where a manager called police.

Video and pictures taken from nearby surveillance cameras show what appears to be a black Kia Soul following Lexow down his street. Nothing was taken from his home.

"I didn't sleep much last night," he said. "It scared the hell out of me."

A similar robbery was reported earlier this week in Pembroke Pines.

Police said a black Kia Soul might have also been used in that case, as well. But it's unclear whether the robberies are connected.

Anyone with information about either robbery is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
