NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – An 8-year-old boy and two others who were injured last week in a drive-by shooting in North Miami have been released from the hospitals they were treated at, authorities said Wednesday.
Police said the child was playing basketball about 9:45 p.m. Oct. 19 in the 1200 block of Northeast 128th Street, when shots were fired from a passing vehicle.

The boy, an 18-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were injured.
Jonathon Laurent, who lives nearby, called 911 after he got a knock on his door.
"I think I did the right thing by opening the door because the kid couldn't even walk," Jonathon Laurent, a neighbor who helped the shooting victim, said.
Laurent stayed with the child while first responders worked their way to the scene.
"We waited for the paramedics and the police told me to get a towel and wrap it around him, which I did, but he was still in so much pain and agony, and just crying so that was really rough to see," he said.
North Miami police said the shooter left in a dark blue or black Lexus sedan.
