Boy hospitalized after stabbing at Royal Palm Beach Community High School

Another student arrested after bathroom stabbing

ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. – A student was taken to a hospital Wednesday morning after he was stabbed in a bathroom at Royal Palm Beach Community High School.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Capt. Albert Borroto said rescuers were called shortly after 8:45 a.m. to a stabbing at the school on Okeechobee Boulevard.

Borroto said the injured boy was airlifted to an area hospital. His condition was not immediately known.

"He was just, you know, going to use the bathroom," student Kashine Johnson told Local 10 News. "The kid just came by and started stabbing him."

Local 10 News reporter Hatzel Vela was told that a pocket knife was used in the attack.

"You heard the guy scream, like, 'Help me. Somebody help me,'" student Alyssah Garcia said. "I just saw, like, you know, some blood on the floor and then I saw a whole bunch of guys just crowded, and I couldn't go in there, obviously."

School District of Palm Beach County spokeswoman Julie Houston Trieste said school officials acted swiftly.

"They were pushing everybody away and they got the victim off campus as fast as possible," she said.

School police said another student was arrested.

It wasn't immediately known what led to the stabbing.

The names and ages of the student and the suspect haven't been released.

Another student was stabbed last December during an altercation at the school.
