Gutsy gas station clerk tries to grab gun from robber

Thief gets away with cash drawer, deputies say

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A gutsy gas station clerk tried to grab a gun from a man last month who robbed the convenience store, authorities said.

The robbery was reported just after 1 a.m. Feb. 24 at the Mobil gas station at 901 W. Sample Road in Deerfield Beach.

Broward sheriff's deputies said the robber pointed a gun at the clerk and ordered him to place the cash drawer in a backpack.

Surveillance video shows the clerk trying to grab the gun, but the robber managed to hang on to it.

The two struggled briefly before the robber yanked the cash drawer and ran out the store.

The bandit was wearing a Miami Heat hat and a cloth over the lower part of his face during the robbery.
