Hollywood police lieutenant arrested, accused of beating wife

Lt. Michael McKinney faces misdemeanor charge

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A Hollywood police officer has been arrested on a domestic battery charge.

According to a Hollywood police report, Lt. Michael McKinney hit and kicked his wife Tuesday night during a fight at their home.

McKinney's wife told police that McKinney struck her twice on her head and kicked her in the ribs.

Police said there was swelling to her ribs and a small bruise on her right bicep. Police said there was also a cut to McKinney's lip, scratch marks on his bicep and scratches to his back and chest.

McKinney was arrested on the misdemeanor charge and booked into jail.

Police said McKinney has been relieved of duties pending the outcome of the investigation.
