iPad snatched from baby in stroller in Miami Beach, police say

Wallet also reported stolen from mother of baby

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Police are searching for a man who snatched an iPad out of the hands of a baby Thursday who was being pushed in a stroller in Miami Beach.

According to an incident report, the victim was pushing her baby's stroller on the south side of 71st Street, approaching Bay Drive West near North Bay Village, when she noticed a man getting closer to her.

The woman told officers that she continued walking and that the man ran up from behind her, snatched her wallet from her waist and snatched an iPad from the hands of her 1-year-old baby.

Police said the man then ran back behind the bridge and toward an apartment building located just south of the bridge.

The woman told detectives that she did not immediately call police because she does not speak English. She notified officers after she returned to her North Bay Village home.

The woman and her child were not injured.

Police said she was unable to trace her iPad because the tracking feature had been disabled and she did not know its serial number.

Detectives searched the area for the man, but he has not been found.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
