Man accused of robbing South Florida bank, claiming he had bomb arrested

Boynton Beach Community High School student Austin Puppo arrested Sunday night

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. ā€“ An 18-year-old high school student accused of robbing a South Florida bank and claiming that he had a bomb in his backpack has been taken into custody.

Austin Puppo was arrested Sunday night on charges of armed robbery and false report concerning planting a bomb or explosive.

Boynton Beach police said Puppo robbed a Wells Fargo branch Saturday morning on Boynton Beach Boulevard.

According to a police report, Puppo is a student at Boynton Beach Community High School.

Police said Puppo handed the teller a note claiming that he had a bomb in his backpack. Police said Puppo fled on a bicycle, pedaling away with $1,447 in cash.
