Man accused of stabbing victim to death in Pompano Beach

Victim, suspect got into argument before stabbing, deputies say

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A South Florida man was arrested Thursday, days after he stabbed another man to death in Pompano Beach, authorities said.

Joseph Gerard Rauchfuss, 45, of Deerfield Beach, faces a premeditated murder charge and is being held without bond.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, Rauchfuss stabbed the victim, David Campbell, 28, multiple times Monday night outside a home at 2649 NW Sixth Court.

Deputies said the victim, Rauchfuss and Rauchfuss' wife, Crystal, had been riding together in a silver Nissan Sentra that is registered to Rauchfuss' father.

Deputies said the trio parked the car in front of the home, and Rauchfuss and Campbell got into an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation.

Deputies said Rauchfuss stabbed Campbell 18 times and then fled the scene in the Nissan with his wife.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue took Campbell to Broward Health North, where he died.

Rauchfuss' wife has not been arrested.
