Man arrested after posing as cop, exposing himself to woman in Coral Gables, police say

Adam Gil, 32, accused of trying to rob security guard

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – A man was arrested Thursday morning after impersonating a police officer earlier this month and exposing himself to a woman in Coral Gables, police said.

Surveillance video captured a man on a skateboard, believed to be Adam Gil, 32, riding up to a security guard about 5 a.m. July 3 on Aurora Street.

Coral Gables police said Gil asked for directions to the Metrorail, and then claimed to be a police officer and ordered the victim to turn around so he could pat her down.

The video appears to show Gil unzipping his shorts after the woman turns around.

Detectives said Gil and the woman struggled as he attempted to take her cellphone and radio, but he was unable to do so.

The woman told police that she looked down after the struggle and saw that Gil had exposed himself to her.

Police said the victim ran away, and Gil fled in the opposite direction.

Gil faces charges of strong-arm robbery, falsely impersonating a police officer, indecent exposure and battery.

He is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
