Man attempts to abduct 12-year-old girl walking to bus stop, Miami police say

Police say man pulled out cash, asked girl if she needed ride

MIAMI ā€“ Police are searching for a man who attempted to abduct a 12-year-old girl Wednesday morning while she was walking to her bus stop in Miami.

Miami police spokeswoman Frederica Burden said the girl walked with her older sisters to Miami Northwestern Senior High School in the area of Northwest 71st Street and 12th Avenue and then headed to her bus stop.

Burden said a man in a black vehicle with tinted windows began following the child and offered her a ride to school.

The girl told the man, "No" and began to walk faster, Burden said.

According to police, the man continued following her, pulled out some cash and asked her a second time if she needed a ride.

The girl then took out her cellphone, called police and the man drove away, Burden said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
