DAVIE, Fla. – Davie police have released a sketch of a man they said groped two women at parks in Davie and Cooper City.
One incident was reported about 12:30 p.m. March 15 at Vista View Park, 4001 SW 142nd Ave. in Davie.
Police said the victim was jogging on the trails when she was approached by a man. The woman said she was unable to hear him because of her headphones, so she stopped to respond to him.
Police said the man asked the victim why she had stopped running and then groped her buttocks.
The woman ran away, but the man caught up to her and began groping her genital area and buttocks again, police said.
According to detectives, the woman screamed and the man ran away.
"There is a lot of people who go up to the top in their truck and they just sit there and wait," Danielle Dombrowski, who jogs at Vista View Park, said. "I usually come with my parents and don't come alone, but now I am alone."
A similar incident was reported earlier in the day about 11:55 a.m. at Brian Piccolo Park, 9501 Sheridan St. in Cooper City.
Broward sheriff's deputies said a man with a similar description exposed himself to a woman at the park before driving away in a gray four-door Nissan Altima or Maxima.
According to an incident report, the man approached the woman as she was getting into her car. Deputies said he grabbed the woman's right thigh and then pulled his pants down.
The woman quickly got into her car and drove to the park office.
"It makes me be on high alert, that's for sure," Angie Andrews, who often goes to the park, told Local 10 News on Friday.
Andrews said she has never personally experienced anything like this at Brian Piccolo Park, but said she felt safer Friday seeing a BSO deputy patrolling the area in his cruiser.
The groper is described as a light-skinned black man between the ages of 22 and 26. He is about 6 feet tall with a medium build and brown eyes.
