According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, the thief unlocked a red Kia Soul, turned on the engine and sat inside the car for several minutes.

Deputies said he turned off the vehicle and walked inside the apartment building.

He got back into the car about 20 minutes later and drove away, deputies said.

The owner of the car believes that he must have dropped the keys when he was getting out of the car.

The car thief is described as a black man in his early to mid 20s, who is about 6 feet tall. He had a short brush cut and was last seen wearing jean shorts and a white T-shirt.

Anyone with information about his identity is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
