Man who shot himself faces charges in fatal Oakland Park shooting, deputies say

Jeremy Ensmenger, 40, remains hospitalized at Broward Health Medical Center

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – A man who was injured Tuesday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound now faces charges in the death of another man he is believed to have shot in Oakland Park, authorities said.

Broward sheriff's deputies were called to a home at 3261 NW Sixth Ave. at 3:40 p.m. and found one man dead and one man suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Homicide detectives believe that Jeremy Ensmenger, 40, shot Kelvin Traylor, 45, before turning the gun on himself.

Ensmenger was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where he remains hospitalized.

He now faces a charge of first-degree murder.

A motive for the shooting is unknown.
