Marathon man accused of stealing girlfriend's truck, jug full of cash

Woman says she refused to allow boyfriend to borrow truck

MARATHON, Fla. ā€“ A Marathon man was arrested over the weekend after he stole his girlfriend's pickup truck and a water jug full of cash, authorities said.

Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said the victim called police Saturday after her boyfriend, Roger Green, 46, took off in her truck.

The woman told deputies that Green found her and her sister Saturday night in a local bar and asked to borrow her truck, but she said no because his license is suspended.

She said she went home later that night and saw that her truck was missing, as well as a 5 gallon plastic water jug that was filled with cash.

The woman drove around town in another car until she spotted Green, but she quickly lost him.

Green was later found by a deputy near the 49 mile marker of U.S. Highway 1.

A check on his name revealed that his license was indeed suspended.

A large plastic jar of cash was in the back seat of the truck, Herrin said.

Green was arrested on charges of driving with suspended license, grand theft and grand theft of a vehicle.
