Miami Beach police officer treated after scuffle with suspect

Police say Mace got in officer's eyes

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A Miami Beach police officer was treated by paramedics Tuesday morning after Mace got in his eyes during an altercation with a suspect, police said.

The officer was investigating a suspicious person who was loitering in the 6900 block of Bay Drive.

Police said the suspect became combative with the officer, who used pepper spray to subdue him.

During the scuffle, Mace got in the officer's eyes, police said. He was treated at the scene.

The suspect was taken into custody. He appeared to be limping.
