MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A Miami Beach police sergeant was forced to deploy her Taser during a traffic stop in Miami Beach, an arrest report said.
The incident was reported Dec. 5 in the 800 block of Ocean Drive.
Police said an officer spotted a two-door Camaro speeding in the 900 block of Ocean Drive and tried to pull over the driver.
Police said the driver, Terrance Grays, 35, briefly stopped, but then sped off north as officers approached the vehicle.
A "be on the lookout" bulletin was issued for the Camaro, and a sergeant spotted it at 10th Street and Ocean Court, the report said.
The sergeant got out of her car and Grays ran into a side alley in the 800 block of Ocean Drive, police said.
Authorities said the sergeant ordered Grays to stop and saw him begin to take off his sweater and adjust his pants before he took a "fighting stance."
According to the arrest report, the sergeant ordered Grays to get on the ground, but he refused, so she deployed her Taser, delivering a 5-second cycle, which was captured on the sergeant's body camera.
Police said he got up after the cycle and ran past the sergeant.
Police said Grays was confronted by another officer at Eighth Street and Ocean Drive and complied when he was ordered to get on the ground.
Several officers helped handcuff Grays.
A partially smoked marijuana cigarette was found in Grays' back pocket, the report said.
Police said Grays was in and out of consciousness while at the scene.
He was treated at the scene and taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center for clearance.
His vehicle was impounded.
Grays faces charges of fleeing and eluding police, resisting an officer without violence and possession of marijuana.
