Mother of missing Miami-Dade teen begs girl to come home

Police say Glenda Agustin-Juarez ran off with her 27-year-old stepfather

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A southwest Miami-Dade County woman whose husband and 16-year-old daughter disappeared after Thanksgiving urged them to come home in an interview Sunday with Local 10 News.

Glenda Agustin-Juarez, who is called Nayellie by her mother, was last seen Nov. 25 near the Homestead Air Reserve Base. Authorities believe she is with her stepfather, 27-year-old Elmer Helcias Tiu Carreto. He hasn't been seen since Nov. 23.

"If Elmer is watching this, all I ask is, if you have her, let her go. Don't make things worse," Lorena Juarez said in Spanish. "And Nayellie come back, call any number to get picked up ... It doesn't matter whatever you did, but I want you to come back. That's all I'm asking of you, come back."

Lorena Juarez said before they disappeared she suspected that Nayellie and Helcias were having a relationship in secret.

She said that her other children told her Nov. 22 that "something strange was happening".

"I started paying more attention, and when they felt they had been discovered, they ran off," she said.

Lorena Juarez said she married Helcias eight months ago, but they had been a couple for almost nine years.

"Something was happening," Lorena Juarez said. "When I asked they didn't say anything, but there is too much coincidence. He was distant and didn't care and started treating me bad. Then he left, then she left too."

Juarez said Nayellie was upset and restless in the days after her stepfather left.

"I asked her why are you crying, what’s wrong, and she wouldn't answer, she would just cry," she said. "She didn't even eat on Sunday."

Lorena Juarez said Helcias is originally from Guatemala, but she doesn't think the two are headed there. Instead, she believes they may have gone to another state.

Investigators said the two are traveling in a silver 2002 Toyota Celica with the Florida tag number 708YLP. Helcias is wanted for questioning in Nayellie's abduction, police said.

Nayellie is described as having brown hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds.

The Miami-Dade Police Department officers were asking anyone with information to call 305-715-3300 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
