MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. – Martin County Sheriff's Office officials announced Wednesday that no "street drugs" were found in initial blood tests taken from a 19-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing a couple Monday night.
While street drugs were not found in initial blood tests taken from Austin Harrouff, authorities said additional tests have been conducted that will further test his blood, hair and DNA.
"This test will give a more in depth result of what was in his system other than your typical street drugs (marijuana, cocaine, heroin, opiods, meth, etc.)," Martin County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Trisha Kukuvka said.
Kukuvka said the initial blood tests did not test for flakka.
The victims were identified as Michelle Stevens, 53, and her husband, John Stevens, 59.
Deputies said the couple was stabbed in their garage by the Florida State University student, who they did not know before the attack.
"When they first moved in, I spent many of days in that garage," neighbor Jim McNamara said. "They'd do anything for you. It's hard to believe that you lose someone like that. If everybody was like them, we would have no problems in this world."
Martin County Sheriff William Snyder said deputies found Harrouff on top of the husband, biting and removing pieces of the victim's face with his teeth when they arrived.
He said the first deputy who arrived tried to stop Harrouff with a Taser gun, but that didn't stop him. More deputies and a K-9 unit were called and eventually overpowered him.
A neighbor who tried to help the couple, Jeff Fisher, 47, was also stabbed.
He was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Harrouff was also taken to the hospital, where he is stable and coherent, deputies said. The sheriff said he was making "animal-like sounds" when he was first brought to the hospital.
Authorities said he is expected to undergo surgery on his hand and is unable to speak because of a breathing tube. After hiring an attorney, his parents were granted visitation with their son on Wednesday.
It's unclear what exactly led to the attack, but Snyder said Harrouff had been at a Duffy's restaurant in Jupiter earlier that evening with his parents and walked away after becoming upset about the service.
According to a Jupiter police incident report, the suspect's mother, Mina Harrouff, told officers that her son had gotten into an argument with his father at the dinner where family and friends were present.

Harrouff's mother said he "was acting strange the last week or so," and said he mentioned having "super powers" and that he was "here to protect people," the report said.
Police said Mina Harrouff did not believe that her son was a danger to himself or others and said that he did not have a history of mental illness.
When asked whether her son was a heavy-drug user, Mina Harrouff said, "No," the report said.
Kukuvka said Harrouff has not been formally charged at this time, but authorities are working with the State Attorney's Office to determine the charges.
A funeral for the daughter of former North Miami Beach Mayor Jeff Mishcon and her husband will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale.
The couple were married for 19 years. Friends told Local 10 News that the pair loved boating and fishing.
