Second man charged in fatal 2014 street racing crash

Mackemley Joseph, 21, charged with 19 counts in crash that killed teen

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – A second man is now facing charges stemming from a deadly street race that claimed the life of a 14-year-old girl.

Mackemley Joseph, 21, appeared in court Wednesday, where a judge went through two pages of charges in connection with the fatal crash.

Joseph is facing 19 counts, including reckless driving and vehicular manslaughter.

It took prosecutors two years to investigate the case and charge Joseph and a second man.

Authorities said Joseph was behind the wheel of a car when he crashed, killing a 14-year-old girl.

Prosecutors said Joseph and Jonathan Perez Muniz, 26, were street racing in 2014 on Southwest 10th Street near Southeast Second Avenue in Deerfield Beach when one of the cars crashed.

The impact sent both cars into several other vehicles that were in the opposite lanes of traffic, authorities said.

Nearly a dozen people were hurt, and one person, Tatyana Etienne, was killed.

Perez Muniz was charged earlier this month and has since bonded out.
