Shooting in West Park leads to search in Hollywood

Man shot multiple times, taken to hospital

WEST PARK, Fla. – A shooting in West Park led to a search in Hollywood, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened just before 2 a.m. Tuesday along Southwest 55th Avenue and Southwest 28th Street in West Park.

According to the BSO, a man was shot multiple times and taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Local 10 News reporter Layron Livingston spoke to a woman who heard the gunshots. She said she was too scared to move and stayed still until she saw red and blue lights flashing through her window.

"All I know is, I was scared. I wouldn't even come to the door," she said.

A deputy patrolling the area also heard the gunshots and began trailing a car into the city of Hollywood near Buchanan Street and North 70th Avenue. It was at the intersection that deputies said three people bailed out.

One person was detained for questioning and faces a charge for fleeing and eluding authorities, BSO spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said.

The vehicle suspected to be used during the shooting was towed away.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
