South Florida woman gives ecstasy-infused water to baby, BSO says

Da'Nese Camacho arrested on child neglect charge

COOPER CITY, Fla. – A South Florida woman accused of giving water infused with ecstasy to a baby was arrested Tuesday.

Da'Nese Camacho, 21, of Cooper City, faces a charge of child neglect without great bodily harm.

According to a Broward Sheriff's Office affidavit, Camacho mixed a baby's bottle with MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, and fed it to the 6-month-old infant in August 2015.

Katinna Jumper told deputies that she left her child with her girlfriend, Camacho, and when she returned home, she noticed that the baby was not "acting" right.

Deputies said Jumper claimed she had a friend come over, and they did ecstasy together. She said the man made some ecstasy in the baby's water bottle.

According to the report, Camacho told Jumper that she believed she accidentally used the drug-infused water while she prepared the baby's formula.

The child was treated at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood.

Jumper was arrested on the same charge in August. She pleaded guilty to contributing to delinquency of a minor and was sentenced to one month of rehabilitation at a treatment center, followed by three months at a halfway house and one year of probation.

A warrant for Camacho's arrest was issued in March, and she was booked into jail Tuesday. A judge ruled that Camacho be held on $10,000 bond.
