Thief breaks into SUV in IHOP parking lot, steals pricey photography equipment

Bobby Weitzner says he lost all his work since moving to South Florida

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – Police are trying to find a thief who stole thousands of dollars' worth of photography equipment from an SUV parked outside an IHOP restaurant in North Miami.

Bobby Weitzner said he stopped at the IHOP near Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 128th Street on Monday to buy some coffee. He said he was alerted that something was wrong when another customer said a white SUV had been burglarized.

Weitzner said he ran outside and saw that all of his photography equipment was missing from his SUV.

Surveillance video showed a man smashing out the rear window of Weitzner's SUV and removing a black bag from inside. The man got away in a black four-door sedan.

Weitzner said the bag contained his photography equipment worth $50,000.

"All the work I've done since I basically left the farmland in Ohio and moved here and started a new life, everything was gone," Weitzner told Local 10 News.

Anyone who recognizes the thief is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
