Thief steals bag with $30,000 in jewelry, cash from vehicle in Lauderhill

Victim was on way to Jewelry Exchange when theft happened, police say

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – Lauderhill police are searching for a man who stole a bag containing $30,000 worth of jewelry and cash from a vehicle.

The theft was reported at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at a Chevron gas station in the 7100 block of North University Drive.

Police said the victim was pumping gas when a man opened the front passenger side door of his Ford Explorer and took the bag from the front seat.

Authorities said the victim had been on his way to the Jewelry Exchange to complete some business before the cash and jewelry were stolen.

The thief left in a white, newer-model Nissan Murano.
