Thief steals nearly $800 in merchandise from Burlington Coat Factory, police say

Incident reported March 31 at Hallandale Beach store

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Newly released surveillance video shows a man stealing nearly $800 worth of merchandise from a Burlington Coat Factory in Hallandale Beach.

The incident was reported about 6 p.m. March 31 at the store at 1409 E. Hallandale Beach Blvd.

According to police, a man who appeared to be Hispanic and in his early 30s walked into the store and grabbed a shopping basket. They said he put $781.78 worth of assorted items into the basket and then fled the store in a white Ford F-150 that was parked in front.

The man is wanted by authorities on a grand theft charge.

Anyone with information about his identity is asked to call Detective Victor Lynch at 954-457-1437. Anonymous tips can be made to Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
