Thieves knock store clerk unconscious, take off in his vehicle

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Broward sheriff’s deputies are searching for a pair of thieves who knocked a store clerk unconscious before taking off in his vehicle.

The robbery was reported just after 11 p.m. April 17 at a Kwik Stop at 110 NW 15th St. in Pompano Beach.

Deputies said the victim was cleaning out his car in front of the store when he was approached by a man who asked whether the store was still open.

The victim said, "No," and the man pretended to walk away, deputies said.

Surveillance video shows the man quickly return, punching the clerk in the head and robbing him of his car keys.

The thief's accomplice stepped over the victim and they took off in the victim's 2013 Toyota Camry, deputies said.

The victim's car was later recovered by police.
