MIAMI ā€“ A toddler was recovering Saturday from a gunshot wound after a bullet grazed his arm.

Dorian McDonald was supposed to be safe in his father's arms, but someone decided to start shooting in his direction Friday night.Ā 

When the bullets started flying, his father, Altraun McDonald, took off running and handed the 1-year-old to someone inside the house.

McDonald was shot in the back. His friend, Tavares Pollydor, was also shot.Ā 

Miami-Dade police detectives for looking for the shooter, who witnesses claim took off in a black BMW after firing a weapon at the home in Miami's West Little River neighborhood.

McDonald and PollydorĀ were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The shooting that could have killed Dorian happened a day after a rally to ask for information on the killing of Jada Page, an 8-year-old girl who was shot in the head in August.

Jada was outside of her grandmother's home in Miami-Dade. She was waiting for her father, who was also shot Ā and survived.

Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers increased the reward for information leading to an arrest in her case to $35,000. Police were asking anyone with information on the shootings to call 305-471-TIPS.
