2 teens accused of shooting at mail carrier during burglary getaway

Suspects accused of opening fire at postal employee

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Two teenager have been arrested after shooting at a mail carrier last Thursday morning, Miami-Dade police said. 

Police said Jacoby Myrick, 18, and Marques Brown, 18, burglarized a victim's home near Southwest 92nd Avenue and Southwest 90th Street and took two watches, valued at $1,400, from the master bedroom along two two computers valued at $4,000.

The mail carrier was delivering mail to the victim's home at the time and witnessed Myrick and Brown jumped out of the victim's background and into a black Nissan Murano, police said. 

As the mailman got into his vehicle and started to drive away, he encountered those same men down the street.

Myrick was holding a gun with both of his hands outside a vehicle, police said, when he at shot the mail carrier. 

The carrier was not injured. 

Prior to that incident, Myrick is said to have burglarized a home in the 10200 block of Southwest 98th Avenue, where he is accused of taking jewelry and an XBox, totaling about $1,200 in value, police said. Cameras captured him fleeing into the black Nissan after the incident. 

Myrick was arrested Tuesday on charges of firing a weapon from a vehicle, grand theft and burglary. Brown was arrested Wednesday night. 

Myrick was also arrested on charges involving a shooting that took place on Jan. 24 in the 21000 block of Southwest 112th Avenue.
