Suspect has 20 pevious arrests in Broward County

William Murrell is accused of fatally shooting Donald Foster last week in Pompano Beach.

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A man with an extensive arrest record in Broward County has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of another man who was found dead outside a Pompano Beach apartment complex.

William Murrell, 33, was arrested Tuesday night in the death of Donald Foster, who was found dead Feb. 2 outside an apartment complex on Northwest Sixth Street.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Gina Carter said Murrell fatally shot Foster during a botched robbery.

Carter said Murrell walked up to Foster from behind, put a gun to his head and reached into Foster's pockets. Carter said that when Foster tried to push Murrell away, Murrell shot Foster.

Deputies later found Foster dead with his pockets turned inside out.

Murrell faces a charge of first-degree murder. He has 20 previous arrests in Broward County for crimes including cocaine possession, grand theft, burglary, battery, domestic violence and probation violations.
