Woman accused of ramming vehicle into back of car in apparent road rage incident

Olga Garza-Martinez, 34, threw objects at victims' car, police say

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – A South Florida woman faced a judge Tuesday after she allegedly rammed her vehicle into at least one other car in Coral Gables.

It was a wild weekend in South Florida. First, a man was shot Friday during an apparent road rage incident in southwest Miami-Dade, and on Sunday, police were called to South Dixie Highway in Coral Gables about a woman who was throwing objects at another driver.

Olga Garza-Martinez, 34, was arrested on charges of aggravated battery, fleeing and eluding police, resisting an officer without violence, escape and criminal mischief.

Police said Garza-Martinez rammed into the back of the victims' vehicle and then continued chasing after the victim.

When she got to an intersection, she pulled up next to the car and began throwing things at the vehicle, police said.

Authorities said Garza-Martinez took off when officers arrived, leading them on a chase on U.S. Route 1.

Police said she was eventually taken into custody, but not before putting up a fight and trying to escape from the back of a patrol car, even breaking the door.

Police said the victims are from California.

They said it's still unclear what set off Garza-Martinez. She is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
