MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā A 26-year-old woman spoke to Local 10 News Thursday about the moment a man with a baseball bat swung at her car during a frightening road rage incident.
"At the moment, I was just in shock," she said. "I didn't move or anything. I didn't know what to even do."
"It sounded like thunder, like, you know, when you hear that roar."
Police said cellphone video shows Omar Marquez QuiƱones, 19, swinging the bat at the woman's car June 18 at a red light on South Dixie Highway near Southwest 132nd Street.
According to a police report, QuiƱones became enraged when he tried to change lanes and couldn't.
A fellow driver caught the whole thing on camera.
"When I first saw the video, I was like, wow. I was still in disbelief," the victim said.
QuiƱones allegedly broke through two of her car windows before taking off in a black Honda Civic.
Police arrested him on Wednesday.
The victim credits the witness for bringing forth the video to help identify QuiƱones.
"I'm so glad for that family and for them sending it to the news station," she said.
As for what she feels for QuiƱones,
"I do forgive him, because I can't hold a grudge on someone who had a bad day," she said. "I don't wish him bad or anything. I just do hope that he gets help."
QuiƱones faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief. He appeared in court Thursday and was ordered to remain in jail in lieu of $8,500 bail.
He will be placed under house arrest and fitted with a GPS ankle monitor if he posts bail.
