Woman thrown to floor during vitamin store robbery in southwest Miami-Dade

Robbery reported March 30 at GNC store

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A woman who works at a vitamin store in southwest Miami-Dade was thrown to the ground last month during a robbery, authorities said.

The robbery was reported March 30 at a GNC store at 8312 Mills Drive.

Newly released surveillance video shows a man who was with a young girl approach the employee, Jennifer Alvarez.

Police said he asked Alvarez for products located behind a locked plastic divider.

Once he had the merchandise in his hands, he told the girl to walk out of the store, police said.

According to authorities, the man then ran out of the store and Alvarez chased him.

Police said a struggle over the merchandise ensued and the man threw Alvarez to the ground, causing a laceration to her right hand.

Police said the man left in a newer model Hyundai Sonata.
