DANIA BEACH, Fla. – A Dania Beach commissioner resigned from her position in the middle of a meeting amid allegations that she doesn't really live in the city.
"I did not come here to play petty politics and wallow in internet and Twitter trash," Pat Flury said Tuesday. "Therefore, I'm submitting my resignation to the city manager, effective immediately."
Flury's two allies on the commission, Al Jones and Chickie Brandimarte, walked out, leading Mayor Walter Duke to end the meeting.
"I'm sorry for the behavior of some of the members of this commission," said Duke.
Flury, a former mayor, blamed her resignation on Patrick Phipps, who she called her stalker.
"I've had a man stalking me for about a year. He follows me day and night and always has his camera ready," she said. "I see him lurking in the dark watching my every move."
"Am I a stalker? Not to her. Am I a stalker? Yes. I'm a stalker of the truth," said Phipps.
Phipps said he learned Flury moved out of Dania Beach last year to live in Fort Lauderdale, violating the city's residency requirement. I found her living in the Fort Lauderdale home as well.
The commission has 60 days to name her replacement.
"I hope the next commission makes a good choice and picks someone that's open, ethical, and honest," said Phipps.
